ICANN expects that applications for a regional top-level domain like .berlin^® be made with the associated community participating in the initiative. It was for this reason that we chose a limited partnership (Kommanditgesellschaft) as the basis for our enterprise as this ideally enables community participation.

This limited partnership is open for entry to all interested representatives of the Berlin community from the areas of politics, administration, economy, science, welfare, culture, sport and for citizens. With their participation, the limited partners also represent the Berlin community internationally, particularly for the application to the Internet administrative organisation ICANN.

Since our foundation, we have held regular discussions with numerous Berlin organisations, companies, individuals and the other places which are called Berlin. Berlin’s industry particularly finds the idea worthy of support, including the chamber of industry and commerce (IHK), guilds and chambers. Various Berlin companies have already joined our initiative as a limited partner or as a sponsor.

We also need the widest possible support from all Berliners.
